Daniel chapter 11 and Daniel chapter 8, both concern the rivalry between the
Kings of the North and South. To understand these prophecies, it is
necessary to know who these kings represent. The explanation of the King
of the North is found in Daniel 2, where king Nebuchadnezzar was given a
special dream that Daniel was called upon to explain. Daniel states in verse
29 that the dream was given by God, to reveal what shall come to pass.
The dream consisted of an image of a man with a head of gold, a breast and
arms of silver, a belly and thighs of brass and legs of iron with feet of
mixed iron and clay Dan 2:31-33. This image was destroyed by a stone cut
out without hands, smiting the image on it's feet and breaking them to pieces.
This stone then became a great mountain that filled the whole earth Dan
2:34-35.
God gives Daniel the interpretation, which he reveals to the king. The
head of gold is Nebuchadnezzar, King of Babylon verse 38. The other body
parts are other kingdoms which shall come and bear rule over the earth verse
39. Historically we know that the Empire of Babylon gave way to the
Empire of the Medes and Persians, which passed on to the Greeks and finally
was inherited by Rome. This final empire shall be partly strong and
partly brittle verse 42 as the toes were part of iron and part of clay.
And in the days of these kings shall the God of Heaven set up a kingdom, which
shall break in pieces all of these kingdoms verse 44.
This image represents a system which started in Babylon and continued through
these succeeding empires. As each one supplanted the previous empire,
they adopted the same system. A different race of people ruled, but the
system of government and the religion remained. As the head contains the
brain and mind and controls the body so this image was dominated by it's head;
Babylon. Each of these successive empires was essentially a continuation
of the Babylonian Empire by different peoples. This is why the Roman
Empire of the toes, which is to be destroyed by the God of Heaven, through His
Christ is called Babylon the Great Rev 18:2.
Now an angel from God came to Daniel in response to his prayer, to reveal what
shall become of Daniel's people in the LATTER DAYS Dan 10:1-14.
This angel revealed to Daniel that the Kingdom of Persia which followed the
Empire of Babylon would be replaced by the Greeks Dan 11:2-4. The first
king of Greece shall be broken and his kingdom divided into four parts.
One of these parts to be called the king of the north and one part to be
called the king of the south. Dan 11 is chiefly concerned with the
rivalry between these two kingdoms.
Historically, King Philip of Macedon prepared plans to unite the Greeks and
conquer the Persians, but died before carrying them out. His son
Alexander became the first king of a united Greece and conquered Persia.
Alexander died of fever in 323 bc. After much infighting, the kingdom
was eventually divided between numerous of Alexander's officers. (To see
how there eventually came to be four parts, see the 2300 DAYS). Ptolemy
became ruler of Egypt, the kingdom SOUTH of Jerusalem. During a dip in
Ptolemy's fortunes, one of his generals, Seleucus Nicator seized the province
of Babylon NORTH of Jerusalem. Dan 11 concerns itself with the rivalry
that developed between the two kingdoms.
This Kingdom of the NORTH was eventually swallowed up by Rome even as the
Greeks swallowed up the Empire of Persia, which had, in it's turn replaced
Babylon! ALL these Kingdoms were part of the Babylonian system, which
shall be destroyed by Christ. The original King of the North was Nicator
whose kingdom was called Babylon! The modern, rising Babylon, Rome, is
the King of the North.
THE KING OF THE SOUTH
At the time of the end shall the King of the South push at him and the King of
the North shall come Dan 11:40-43. Who shall the North attack? Why
those who provoke him, of course. Who does he strike? EGYPT and JUDEA.
So, who provoked him? EGYPT and JUDEA! So, who is the King of
the South? EGYPT is and has always been the King of the South!
When Ptolemy became king of EGYPT, King of the South, he also ruled JUDEA!
JUDEA was a part of Egypt at that time. The King of the North, Babylon
called Rome today shall attack JUDEA and EGYPT. All the Israelite
peoples shall fall with them Hos 5:5. It is very interesting to see that
EGYPT, the JEWISH STATE, the USA and the BRITISH are ALL closely allied
together at this time. And that they are ALL specifically mentioned as
falling together, to Babylon! The entire chapter eleven of Daniel is
about EGYPT, why would they suddenly NOT BE the King of the South at the end
of the chapter? This just makes NO SENSE.
There is speculation that the King of the South is Iran or some kind of
Islamic Extremist Entity. This is based on an opinion written some fifty
years ago that since Egypt had at one time been part of the Roman Empire, she
had ceased to be the King of the South. This is like saying that
Japan is no longer Japan because she was occupied after WW2, or that Germany
is no longer Germany. Of course such statements would be absurd to the
point of being ridiculous. In like manner it is absurd to say that Egypt
is no longer South of Jerusalem, or that her people are no longer mainly
Egyptian. Egypt, along with her allies has been the King of the South
for about 2,300 years and remains the King of the South. An opinion
written fifty years ago has no weight when we understand that the words of
Daniel were sealed by God until the very end time. Dan 12:9 The
facts are that Iran is Northeast of Jerusalem, NOT South and that God's Word
states clearly that the end will NOT come until Peace and Safety have been
achieved by the Israelite peoples. 1 Thess 5:3. Those who say that
conflict will continue until Islamic Extremism wins, or as some say, wreaks
massive destruction on our people, are dead wrong. Those who say
that Islamic Extremism will confront Europe, after defeating us, thus triggering
a new world war, are dead wrong. No one would claim that PEACE and SAFETY had
been achieved while such events were happening. Those who claim that
Ethiopia is the King of the South are obliquely right in the sense that
Ethiopia is an ally of Egypt today.
In summary; The King of the South is and has always been EGYPT and shall fall,
with her allies at the start of the final forty two months. The King of
the North was Babylon and is still Babylon, the feet of Babylon; ROME.
This Babylon shall be allowed to dominate for forty two months Rev 13:5 and
Dan 12:7. As an aside, it should be noted that Persia (Iran) had her time of
dominance as a part of the image of Babylon, with her own empire. Both
the Kings of the North and South had their origin in Greece and came
after Persia fell. Persia has NEVER had anything to do with the Kings of
North or South. As for Ethiopia, she is a client state of the USA and
she also occupies an important strategic location. While Libya is a
prime source of oil in close proximity to Europe.
