WHAT IS MAN?
When God created mankind, he created a spirit (human spirit) that cannot survive outside of the human body, a physical container made from common elements found upon the earth. And when the body ceases to function, it decays back into those components that it is made of.
(GEN 2:7) And God formed man out of the dust of the ground, and breathed life into his nostrils, and man became a living soul.
(GEN 3:19) By the sweat of your face will you eat bread until you return unto the ground, for out of it you were taken. Dust you are, and to dust you will return.
(GEN 6:3) The Lord said, My spirit will not always be with man, because he is flesh his days will be an hundred and twenty years.
(PS 103:13-14) Like a father that pities his children, so does the Lord pity those that fear him. He knows our shape and remembers that we are dust.
(ECC 12:13) Fear God and keep his commandments, this is the whole duty of a man.
(1 COR 2:11) What man knows the things of a man except the spirit of man that is in him? And the things of God know no man but the spirit of God.
(1 COR 6:2) Do you not know that we will judge angels?
(REV 5:10) And has made us kings and priests of our God, and we will rein upon the earth.
The spirit at the moment of death returns to the creator, and
is then stored away, awaiting to be resurrected to life again.
The purpose behind human creation is to replace the angels who had proven they
could not be entrusted with their commission. That commission was to be
teachers, and rulers, and priests for the generations of present and future God
family members. But the angels were created into the God family, and their
positions. We on the other hand must work to prove we want to be in his family,
and that we want positions in the kingdom. Someone who has to work their way in
is much more likely to not revolt such as the angeles did.
Now the people of God are asked to take over the commission that was handed to
the angels, in that we will even come to judge, and rule over the angels.
